X Factor to return next year
December 15, 2009
It has been confirmed that X Factor will be back next year after speculation that Simon Cowell would put the show on hold unless ITV could come up with the cash to make it bigger and better. Cheryl Cole is also said to be returning to the programme’s judging panel next year. However there are doubts as to whether or not Dannii Minogue will be reprising her role on the team.
Ms. Minogue has recently said that she has no idea why she was asked to swap seats with Louis Walsh and even went on to point out that she thought she might have been moved to the edge of the stage. She said that when she asked why she was so obviously being sidelined everyone tried to pass the buck by saying that it was another person’s decision.
A source at ITV said that the past few days have been worrying concerning the future of the contest but that now the problems seem to have been sorted out. The source said that Simon Cowell wanted to launch X Factor in the U.S. and that the show would have to schedule itself accordingly. Cowell has made it clear that ITV will have to pump more money into X Factor if it is going to continue. He said that this year’s ratings proved that people wanted the show to be bigger and better. £1.7 million was spent on the programme each weekend by ITV but the channel is definitely happy about advertising revenues which reportedly hit £20 million.
