Woman arrested after children’s bodies found in the boot of her car

January 28, 2010

A forty-three year old woman was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murdering her two young children. She has been named as Fiona Donnison and is currently in hospital where it is believed she is being treated for wrist and arm wounds which she inflicted on herself.

Just before midday yesterday Mrs. Donnison entered Heathfield Police Station in a state of distress and bleeding from her arms. She told police that there had been an incident involving her two youngest children. Police officers then rushed to Mrs. Donnison’s car which was parked nearby and discovered the bodies of two children in the boot. There were apparently no signs of injury on the bodies of the children but officers say they suspect that they had been dead for some time. The bodies were found in a pair of sports bags. Although the medical services were called to the scene, both children were declared dead. The children will be named later after an autopsy has been performed. The children’s mother is said to be in a stable condition at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

It is believed that Mrs. Donnison and her husband Paul separated before Christmas and put their house in the East Sussex town of Heathfield up for sale. One of the neighbours said that a friend was looking after two teenage boys who are the sons of Mrs. Donnison. They are said to be very upset. Another resident of the area said that he was shocked by what had happened. He pointed out that there had never been so much as a burglary in the area before.
