William is not to become shadow King

January 4, 2010

A spokesman for the Palace has said that Prince William is not being groomed as a shadow King. Ever since it was announced that the prince would be officially visiting Australia later this month on behalf of Her Majesty rumours have been flying around that this would be the first of many duties the Queen would be handing directly over to her grandson.

However William himself has said that he has no intention of trying to fill his father’s shoes prematurely and is keen not to take any of the spot light away from Prince Charles. The Palace has said that after William returns from Australia he will be concentrating on his training to become a search and rescue pilot. He is due to spend most of the year learning how to operate Sea King helicopters. The Palace has also said that the prince intends to spend more time concentrating on the various charities he is involved with.

William has always made it clear that he wishes to dedicate the next few years to becoming a useful member of the armed forces. It is even his wish that he be sent to a war zone. When he is handed the throne he will also become head of the armed forces and those close to William say he wants to be able to face the ranks as a serving officer, not just as a figurehead. It is thought that the Prince will be heading off to RAF Valley in Anglesey to continue his search and rescue training.
