Two Beefeaters dismissed from Tower for bullying

November 26, 2009

Officials at the Tower of London have said that due to complaints of bullying they have had to sack two of their male Beefeaters. The two men had initially been suspended from their posts whilst an investigation was undertaken. Moira Cameron is the first woman ever to have been appointed to the position of Yeoman Warder and says that colleagues started to become hostile after she beat five male applicants to the post. Cameron claims that she was the victim of a hate campaign which involved her uniform being defaced, hate notes being sent to her and a fifty-six-year-old man defacing her page on Wikipedia.

Cameron claims that she was told by one man at the Tower that he was utterly against her taking up the position of warden.

To become a Beefeater applicants have to have served in the armed forces for at least twenty-two years. Cameron entered the army when she was twenty after which she went on to take up positions in Cyprus and Northern Ireland. She rose to the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2.

The Tower of London has said that as soon as the accusations of bullying came to light they issued a full investigation. They went on to point out that those working at the Tower had every right to do so without being subject to harassment. They also stated that after investigating the claims they found that they were justified and that two of Cameron’s male colleagues had now been dismissed. Cameron continues to work at the Tower.
