Tiger Woods charged with careless driving after crash

December 2, 2009

The world’s number one golfer, Tiger Woods could face a fine of $164.00 and see four points deducted from his driver’s license after being convicted of careless driving. The golfer was leaving his driveway in his Cadillac SUV at 2AM in the morning when he crashed the vehicle into a fire hydrant and a tree. He was taken to hospital with facial lacerations but was discharged twelve hours later. The incident immediately caused the world’s press to speculate as to why Woods had left his home in the early hours of the morning with many suggesting a fight with his wife, Elin Nordegren was the cause.

Police have however said that there was no evidence to suggest that the crash was anything but careless driving and there have been no accusations of domestic violence from either Woods or his wife.

The fact that the crash occurred just days after the National Inquirer published a story about the golf star carrying on an affair with Rachel Uchitel, a nightclub hostess has added grist to the rumour mill resulting in many suggesting that a fight between the couple can be the only reason for Tiger Woods driving erratically at such a strange time of night.

Tiger Woods has since told fans through his website that rumours about his personal life as well as his family are completely unfounded and were irresponsible. He has said little about his car accident other than he is extremely embarrassed about it, he is only human and he will try hard to make sure it never happens again.
