Third man sought by police in Stephen Gately investigation
October 12, 2009
In an attempt to get to the bottom of what exactly happened on the night that Boyzone star, Stephen Gately died, police are searching for a man who was with the singer and his partner at their Majorcan apartment. Although police are saying that they don’t believe the man was responsible for Gately’s death in any way they would like to speak to him in order to piece together the events that led up to his body being discovered.
Gately and his partner, Andy Cowles had been out drinking at a local club the Black Cat on Friday evening and are believed to have left the establishment at around 4.30 on Saturday morning. The couple were accompanied by a third man who was Bulgarian and named Giorgio.
Gately was then discovered dead on his sofa the following day. It is believed he drowned on his own vomit. Cowles apparently found him in his pyjamas and desperately tried to resuscitate him. However Gately was pronounced dead at 1.45 pm. Cowles is said to be distraught.
Band mates of the singer have flown out to Majorca and were seen entering Gately’s flat last night. The bands manager, Louis Walsh had to withdraw from last nights X Factor because he was so upset by the news.
