Swine flu most prevalent in London

November 6, 2009

Although it is believed that the swine flu virus has not mutated, the numbers of people said to be suffering severely from the disease is said to be snowballing by medical officials. Official figures show that London is the place where most severe cases of the disease are being reported. Figures say that the amount of cases being reported to medical officials are slowing down, however out of the 172 people who have been admitted to intensive care because of the disease, 39 are in London hospitals. The total number of those having perished from the disease has now hit 39 in the capital alone.

The Health Protection Agency has just released figures which show that 22% of severe cases of swine flu have been caught within the country’s capital. However, Dr. Chloe Sellwood who is in charge of monitoring the rates of swine flu in London says that because there are more critical care beds in the London hospitals those hospitals are available to more of the country’s swine flu victims.

Within the last week three more people have died as victims of the disease.
