The popular Britain’s Got Talent contestant, Susan Boyle, was featured on the US-based Oprah Winfrey Show earlier this week.

A production crew from the show descended on the West Lothian town of Blackburn, and spent a few hours with the singing sensation on a tour of the area and meeting some of her neighbours.

Boyle spoke with Winfrey by a video link about her newfound fame, saying that it was all “like a dream come true.”

The singer’s performance of the well-known song from Les Miserables, “I Dreamed a Dream”, on the ITV1 talent show made her an instant global star when a video of her audition was posted on the social networking website YouTube.

Other acts from Britain’s Got Talent were featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show special, representing many of the 40 countries where the UK-based talent show is filmed.

Interviewed at her Scotland home, the 47-year-old Boyle told Oprah that the new attention hasn’t made her feel that she needed to alter her appearance. She said that a friend now helps her with her make-up, but quipped: “that’s hardly a makeover.”

She also spoke about the reason she became interested in singing when she was younger. “I was kind of slow at school, so getting something like singing was a good way of hiding behind that and so boosting my confidence,” Boyle said.
