Simon Cowell threatens to pull X Factor

December 14, 2009

Simon Cowell has threatened to take X Factor off air if bosses at ITV cannot come up with an extra £300,000 per week so that he can make improvements. Amongst those improvements it is rumoured that Cowell wants to see the show run for an extra month by increasing the number of finalists from twelve to sixteen. He also wishes to add an extra judge to the panel so that controversial deadlocks can be avoided. One name being bandied around is Robbie Williams. Cowell has said that he would be perfect as he is fun to be around, has great instincts and doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Insiders at the show say that Cowell also wants to get rid of Dannii Minogue because although he claims he likes feisty women as judges he is fed up with being upstaged. He has also said that next year he would like to move the show’s finals from their present home at Fountain Studios to Wembley Arena. This would increase the number of seats available at the live shows from 600 to 12,000.

The shows top judge has confirmed that if ITV agree to his demands he will return as a member of the panel. However he has also said that any lack of funding from ITV would mean that the show would have to take a break. He pointed out that he had no desire to put X Factor out through anyone but ITV. Cowell is also in plans to roll the format out on American television and said that he would appear as a judge when it happened.
