Robbie Williams returns to form at Camden’s Roundhouse
October 21, 2009
Robbie Williams returned to the stage for the first time in three years when he stepped out at Camden’s Roundhouse yesterday. The singer also returned to form after his bizarre performance on ITV’s X Factor at the weekend. The show was a mixture of classics such as No Regrets and Supreme mixed in with tracks from his new album Reality Killed the Video Star. Williams sang in front of a thirty-eight piece band and punctuated the songs with anecdotes and general chat with the audience. He talked about his girlfriend and dedicated one of his songs to her. He also talked about his reunion with the other members of Take That.
As a sign that the singer was still trying to find his feet an autocue played the lyrics to his songs and thanked the audience for making him feel comfortable on a stage again. The only boos of the night came when Robbie decided to tell the audience that he was supporting John and Edward to win X Factor. He even managed to poke fun at himself by saying that he almost burst into tears but then realized that he wasn’t on X Factor.
At one point the audience shouted that they wanted Robbie to get his top off. He politely refused saying that he was pretty sure nobody wanted to see his boobs.
