Robbie back with Take That at the Albert Hall
November 13, 2009
The Royal Albert Hall in London played host to a Children in Need concert which saw Robbie Williams reunited with his old band mates from Take That. Although the five did not perform a Take That song together Robbie was ushered on to the stage by former band mate Gary Barlow when he announced to eager fans that it was the perfect night to introduce an old friend.
Take That then left the stage leaving Robbie alone to perform his new single Bodies. Robbie said afterwards that his only regret from the evening was that he and the boys did not milk their moment on stage together for a little bit longer. He said that before appearing he was almost in tears and staff around him were begging him not to cry.
The shows finale was a rendition of the Beatles’ classic Hey Jude. All of the evening’s performers got together on stage and the moment will be best remembered by Take That fans for Robbie and Gary Barlow singing along with their arms around each others shoulders.
When asked afterwards why Robbie had not performed with Take That on the night he said that other plans were being made. He said that he did not wish to shoot his bolt too early but also hoped that all the speculation about a reunion would not start to bore fans of the band before it happened.
Amongst the other acts on stage for the charity event were Lily Allen, Cheryl Cole, Dizzee Rascal, Muse, Mika and Leona Lewis.
