Panel for American X Factor still to be confirmed
January 20, 2010
As America comes to terms with the fact that Simon Cowell will no longer be delivering his barbed comments to those desperately making a bid for singing stardom on American Idol, the chatter has turned to who will be his co-hosts on American X Factor. Cowell turned down a very lucrative deal to stay with American Idol in order to bring the format of X Factor, which has worked extremely well in Britain, to an American audience. Frontrunners in the list of possible co-hosts are Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole. The American audience will be used to seeing Paula Abdul on their screens as she was once a judge on American Idol. However they will not be so aware of Cheryl Cole. She rose to fame after performing on the U.K. talent show Popstars with her band, Girls Aloud. Her first solo effort managed to become one of last year’s biggest sellers and it is assumed that she will jump at the chance of being able to raise her profile across the pond. Apparently Simon Cowell has already asked his team to look for a house for Cheryl Cole if she does decide to join him stateside. Cowell has allegedly already told her that her personality would go over well with American audiences.
Other names which have been bandied about include Robbie Williams. Cowell has said that he would be great as a judge because he does not take himself too seriously. Mariah Carey’s ex-husband Tommy Mottola may also be a name to watch.
