Nick Griffin to air his far right views to BBC viewers
October 22, 2009
Many people in the U.K. believe that tonight’s episode of Question Time will needlessly give BNP leader, Nick Griffin a stage to air his views. Mr. Griffin himself accuses the BBC of bias towards him but said a big thank you for letting him on the show. Mr. Griffin said the furore surrounding his appearance has done nothing but good for the BNP and claims that hits in the party’s website were up phenomenally as were money donations. Those apposed to seeing Mr. Griffin given a public arena in which to air his views say that it is wrong to legitimize the BNP by allowing a representative on air.
The BBC has defended its decision to allow Mr. Griffin onto Question Time by saying that it is not the corporation’s position to enforce censorship and that if the party is to be banned then that is a job for parliament. The BBC says that they will be implementing heavy security at Television Centre in case there are any clashes between anti-fascist protesters and supporters of the BNP.
The television programme will be filmed a few hours before it is broadcast so that the BBC has a chance to edit out any illegal or distasteful segments.
