NatWest and RBS offer support as businesses emerge from recession
June 7, 2010
According to research released by NatWest and RBS, there are encouraging signs that Britain is on the road to recovery after the recent recession. In spite of difficult trading conditions, 33 per cent of the SMEs polled reported upcoming growth as immediate priorities for their companies.
NatWest and RBS have begun one-stop shops for technical online support and advice as a response to the increase in positive thinking. The new services will aim to further businesses trading their way back to a profit.
In addition to support, the scheme will offer interactive business reviews, practical guides and economic reports. The newly launched, SME Business Knowledge Hubs, a joint venture by NatWest and RBS, is a free interactive site, a first for the British banking market.
The site provides a list of guides to enable firms to plan ahead, and also features answers to FAQs such as risks of downloading instant reports, cash flow issues, and other tactical problems in the business arena.
David Frost, the British Chambers of Commerce director general, said that the new support site powered by RBS and NatWest was impressive. He added that it offered SMEs a comprehensive and practical tool to help owners better equip themselves for an ever-changing economic environment.
The support sites are available through both Natwest and RBS’ websites. Peter Ibbetson, chairman of NatWest and RBS’ small business sector, said the support was offered after the firms received feedback from customers regarding their needs.
He added that the online review aims to help business owners avoid the hardest hitting aspects of the recession as well as provide for future challenges.
