PC World
The first PC World store was opened in Croydon by Vision Technology Ltd in November 1991. By 1993 it had expanded to four stores and caught the eye of Dixons who purchased the chain. During the following years an aggressive policy of expansion was followed partly helped by the acquisition of DN Computer services in 1996 and Byte Computer Superstores Ltd in 1998 and finally in 2004 Micro Warehouse.
In September 1997 PC World Business was formed and in March 2001 the new headquarters were opened in Bury, Greater Manchester where it is controlled by its own management team.
