X Factor star and former Tesco – check out girl, Mary Byrne is determined to drop three stone to alleviate the mounting arthritis pain in her legs, said the singer’s daughter, Deborah.
The 50 year-old rising star reportedly wants to shed the weight naturally, but would not rule out the use of methods like gastric bypass. Mary admitted in past interviews to the use of anti-depressants and other tablets as a means to control her weight issues. She also recently said that the arthritis in her legs forced her to take frequent breaks during the show’s first week of rehearsals.
According to Mary, she dropped down to nine stone following her daughter’s birth, but said that the stress of being a single mother led to her weight gain. The singer also said that her newfound fame on X Factor was a driving motivator to lose the pounds for good.
Mary said that she has struggled with her weight since her partner abandoned her and her daughter sending her into a depression. Mary also said that the constant weight gain caused her to hate herself, throwing her into a downward spiral of binge eating and depression.
Mary quickly added during the interview that it was not a bid to get the sympathy vote, but that she hoped her performances would earn her a spot in the finals.
