Description Sailing around the Leeward Islands can comprise several different routes and fascinating cultures. This due to the number of several independent territories and tiny island nations which once were colonised by the United States, United Kingdom, the Netherlands and France. The islands of St. Martin, Saba, Saint Bartholomew, Montserrat, St. Eustatius, Dominica, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Guadeloupe, Nevis, Barbuda, Antigua and the US and British Virgin Islands are known as the Leewards. The Virgin Islands are the largest. Due to its geographical position, Isla Aves also belongs to the Leewards.
