LaToya Jackson suggests brother was murdered
July 16, 2009
LaToya Jackson, the sister of the late Michael Jackson, said in an interview with a London newspaper that she suspected the pop icon was “murdered” by “a shadowy entourage”.
It was reported by another member of the family as well as by a source familiar with the newspaper’s interview arrangements that the London’s Daily Mail paid her for the interview. The amount she was paid was not known, however.
In the course of the four-hour interview, LaToya Jackson was said to be “very candid”, according to Daily Mail reporter Caroline Graham, who conducted the interview with Jackson in Los Angeles.
No actual evidence of a murder conspiracy was cited, Graham noted, but Jackson did confirm that the family has seen the results of the private autopsy they had requested. The reporter said that Jackson would not reveal what had been found.
Bryan Monroe, the journalist who conducted the last interview with Michael Jackson, said: “There indeed had been concern among several family members about the circumstances around Michael’s death,” adding: “Some folks have hesitated to go as far as saying it was murder.”
Assistant Chief Los Angeles County Coroner Ed Winter indicated that the results from the autopsy performed on Jackson’s body should be released within a week.
Los Angeles Chief of Police William Bratton said to CNN last week that he was waiting for the report from the coroner’s office to establish the cause of death.
