Labour candidate calls Queen vermin and a parasite

November 17, 2009

A candidate for the Labour Party has used a Tory member’s Facebook page to describe the Queen as vermin and a parasite. Peter White who will be trying for the South Hornchurch council ward next year posted his anti-monarchist piece onto the page of Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell. Mr. Rosindell said that as soon as the piece slating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee went up onto the social networking site people started to comment on it.

The post was put up onto Mr. Rosindell’s page as a response to his trying to push a bill through parliament to have the Jubilee declared a national holiday. Mr. White said that although he saw nothing wrong with a national holiday he did not see why it had to be in celebration of someone he described as vermin. He also made comments about Buckingham Palace, Margate and how people who are born into a position of privilege shouldn’t celebrate Diamond Jubilees.

Mr. Rosindell said that it was disgusting that a person in a position of responsibility within the Labour Party could feel justified in publically writing that he thinks the Queen is vermin and a parasite. Mr. White has decided to defend himself although he has since taken his post down from Facebook. He says that other people should judge whether he went too far with his comments. It looks like that might just happen as Mr. White has been asked to come and explain his actions to Labour Party officials who will then decide on his future with the party.
