In a US TV interview, Michael Jackson’s father said that he felt “foul play” was involved in his son’s death.

Joe Jackson did not provide any details to support his claim, however.

Los Angeles Chief of Police William Bratton has said that he would not rule out any possible cause of death at this time, including homicide, and was waiting for the coroner’s report.

He confirmed that police are looking the pop icon’s history of prescription drug use and are attempting to interview the many doctors who treated him.

According to Bratton, the coroner’s report will be the basis for ruling out any possible causes of death in their “comprehensive” investigation into the 50-year-old’s sudden death.

The cause of death is said to depend on the results of time-consuming toxicology tests, which will appear in the coroner’s report.

Bratton said: “Based on those we’ll have an idea of what we’re dealing with,” and continued by asking: “Are we dealing with homicide? Are we dealing with an accidental overdose? What are we dealing with?”

The police chief noted that detectives continued to gather evidence, including items from the singer’s rented mansion in Bel Air, and were arranging interviews with his former doctors.
