Gordon Brown’s son to blame for wife’s mysterious Tweet

December 2, 2009

The Prime Minister’s wife has explained to followers of her Tweets that a recent message sent out consisting of a jumble of random letters was down to one of her sons playing around with the keyboard on her computer. The strange message received by Twitter users caused many to speculate that a cat may have unwittingly walked across her keyboard or even sat on her mobile phone. An hour after the message was sent out Mrs. Brown posted a Tweet apologising for the confusing message and suggesting that either six-year-old John or three-year-old Fraser had succeeded in sending the Tweet after she had left her computer on.

Downing Street has not said which of the Prime Minister’s sons was the culprit but has confirmed that the message was not the result of computer hackers gaining access to Mrs. Brown’s computer.

Mrs. Brown’s tweets on subjects such as her official visits and issues about campaigns have proved extremely popular with members of the social networking community. As well as telling Twitter users that there was nothing particularly nefarious to blame for the odd message sent on her behalf by one of her sons she told her followers that from now on she would try to make sure that she turned her computer off when she was not using it to avoid the situation recurring and as a way of saving on energy use.

It was on Tuesday afternoon that networkers found the message pop up on her Twitter page.
