Garden disappears but is found next door
September 22, 2009
The Staffordshire Police force has declared that it intends to investigate fully the remarkable case of a garden that disappeared from behind one house only to reappear in its entirety behind the house next door. The garden which originally belonged to Phil and Linzi Woodhouse of Cannock, Staffordshire allegedly moved itself next door whilst they were away on holiday in Lanzarote. The couple received a phone call from Mrs. Woodhouse’s mother asking what they had done with their garden because it didn’t seem to be there anymore.
The couple returned home to find that Mrs. Woodhouse’s mother had been quite correct and all that remained of what used to be their garden was earth and patches of grass. Meanwhile next door Brian Johnson their forty-year old neighbour had replaced what had been an overgrown patch of land with an exact replica of what the Woodhouse’s garden used to look like.
When asked where exactly his new garden had come from Mr. Johnson allegedly flew into a rage claiming that it was all his. He later said that he had bought the garden including a shed, hanging-baskets; paving slabs, pot plants and flowers from a third party who he said was known to his neighbours. Mr. Johnson said he had bought his new garden for £220.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodhouse say that the whole matter is a little upsetting as they are trying to sell their house. The police have advised that they try and retrieve their property and although Mr. Johnson said that he would give their garden back, he hasn’t yet.
