Cheryl Cole is number one with debut single
October 26, 2009
X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has exploded into the British charts with her debut single Fight For This Love. She has taken the number one slot from X Factor winner Alexandra Burke as well as taking Burkes title for fastest selling single of the year so far. Fight For This Love has already sold an astonishing 290,000 copies according to the Official Charts Company.
Cole said that she was finding it difficult to take everything in saying that she now had a permanent grin on her face. She went onto say that she was just about coming to terms with having recorded a solo single without the other members of her band Girls Aloud and that the feeling of going to number one was very hard to describe.
Fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell predicted that Cheryl Cole would take the top spot after she performed the single live-ish in front of the show’s studio audience. Cowell called Cole’s performance incredible.
Alexandra Burke has managed to hold on to second position with her single Bad Boys and will take consolation in the fact that she now has the number one slot in the U.K. album charts with Overcome.
Cheryl Cole had to perform on the same bill as Whitney Houston when she sang in front of the X Factor audience. However Whitney only managed to secure fifth position with her song Million Dollar Bill.
