CarRentals.co.uk says to book early for bank holiday

August 24, 2009

Rental car shortages in popular destinations will mean that Britons travelling over the upcoming bank holiday will pay higher rates, and in some cases not be able to find cars for hire, according to leading car hire comparison website, CarRentals.co.uk.

The website’s managing director is advising holidaymakers to book early to avoid disappointment or added expense, noting that shortages are already being reported in the Spanish resorts of Alicante and Malaga this month.

CarRentals.co.uk’s managing director, Gareth Robinson, noted: “Travellers need to book early and look beyond the big brand names.  We compare up to 50 rental companies on our site, meaning that if one supplier has sold out one of the smaller suppliers may still have some availability.  It’s all about shopping around and booking in advance to avoid getting caught out.”

Prices for one week’s car hire in Crete are available on the website from just £18 per day, in Newquay from £17 per day in Newquay and in Malaga from £23 per day – although the prices are subject to change.

Robinson added: “The popular Bank Holiday locations such as key resorts in Spain are already busy, so travellers may well find that any cars they can book are charged at a premium.”

CarRentals.co.uk compares the deals offered by over 50 hire car companies at more than 9,000 destinations around the world.
