Carlo Ancelotti and John Terry to hold Meeting over Taking Time Off

February 10, 2010

Chelsea FC manager Carlo Ancelotti is going to have a meeting with John Terry, the captain of the team, today (Wednesday) after the Everton FC match, when they will decide if the footballer needs to go on a two-day break or not. This comes after allegations of Terry having an affair with French model Vanessa Perroncel were published in a newspaper. The model is the ex-girlfriend of Terry’s best friend and former teammate Wayne Bride, and the two had a child together before their breakup last summer.

There has been a huge media frenzy because of the scandal, so Toni Poole, Terry’s wife, thought it best to take the kids and head to Dubai to avoid it all. There have been rumors since that Terry wants to take some time off to spend Valentine’s Day in Dubai with his family to try to save marriage, which would mean that the captain would miss the FA Cup fifth round game against Cardiff on Saturday. So it isn’t surprising that he and Ancelotti will talk about it.

Terry lost his captaincy of England, the national team, at the end of last week due to the affair, but Ancelotti has been very supportive of him. He says that right now though, they just need to stay focused on the away game against Everton, and afterward they will talk about what to do. They need to respect the FA Cup, which is an important trophy, he added, so they will make a decision if Terry needs to take time off or wants stay – based on what’s best for them.
