Apple reveals the iPad
January 28, 2010
Gadget fans around the world can at last stop speculating about Apples latest release, it is called the iPad. We all knew that the computer giant was going to release a tablet computer and yesterday Apple’s chief executive, Steve Jobs showed the world what it would look like and what it will do. He said that the device was somewhere between a smart phone and a laptop and that it would be awesome to watch films on. He added that Apple had managed to give the device a ten-hour battery life meaning that owners could fly half way around the world and watch constant film and television before having to recharge it. Jobs said that everyone was using a lap top and a smart phone these days and that the new tablet design would offer people the best of both worlds. Indeed the iPad looks very much like an oversized iPod.
Apple have said that the iPad will be rolled out to customers around the world by the end of March and the 16GB version should cost somewhere in the region of £308.00 ($499.00). In April the slightly more expensive 3G and Wi-Fi enabled models are due to come out. The tablet weighs in at just one-and-a-half pounds and is half-an-inch thick. It has an on screen keyboard and a twenty-five cm colour screen. As well as being able to listen to music, surf the internet and watch video the iPad will also be a reader. The device has already caused many to speculate that it could radically change the magazine and newspaper market.
